Chapter Twenty-Seven: The life of a 4 month old!
8:54 PMI can't not believe that my little baby boy is already 4 months old. Seriously, where does the time go? I know people have told me for years that time goes by the fastest when you have kids and I never believed them but.... I do now. These past 4 months have flown by but they also hold so many amazing memories.
Now that Kambryn is 4 months old, there is so much that he has learned.
- He is an expert at holding his head up during tummy time.
- He is starting to lift his head and upper body up from the ground.
- We have been working on him sitting up by himself and he has been using his abs more during his exercises. I say within another month he might just sit up all on his own.
- He laughs really good now, especially when I tickle his upper legs and ribs. He's even starting to laugh just by watching my silly facial expressions and when I laugh too. I love it!
- High pitch squeals is his favorite thing to do along with blowing lots of spit bubbles.
- Teething has not been fun. This past month has been the worse so far. My poor baby will scream out in pain and I have been using teething tablets for him which have helped so much.
- He is staring to hold things with both hands and can bring them to his mouth.
- When toys are in front of him, he will reach out and grab them.
- He's trying to hold his own bottle, when ever I do give him my pumped milk. However, he also likes to hold my breast when we are breast feeding too.
We celebrated the day by starting it off with morning kisses, snuggles, and breakfast (breast milk for him of course).
Then we did some morning tummy time.
Follow by a mid-morning meal of breast milk. Mom had some much needed coffee ;-).
We played with toys included in with more Tummy time and practicing his grabbing and pulling skills.
We played Rock Star and practiced sitting up. I always sing "Row Row Row Your Boat" to him while sitting in front of him. I will pull him back and fourth, to get him used to using his muscles that help him to sit up. It has been working really good so far and he also loves when I sing him the song.... even though I can not sing very good.
We listened to Pandora and danced together. No photos of my horrible dance moves but as long as they make my son giggle, that is all that matters, right? It gave him an appetite so he ate again. Have I mentioned how fast he is growing?! We go to his 4 month appointment in a week and a half to see how much he has grown, which I am looking forward too, but also he is getting his 4 month shots which is something that I dread very much.
We read a story. He loved looking at the bright colors.
Mommy of course had to get a few of his 4 month milestone photos.
He thinks it is funny when I put a blanket on his head lol.
He started getting fussy and I assumed it was because of teething.
He was drooling like crazy and chewing on his hands. It was nothing mommy's milk couldn't fix of course. Then Daddy came home, we ate dinner (Kam ate twice lol), and snuggled on the couch to watch some TV together. Once Daddy fell asleep on the couch, we took a nice warm bath.
Of course we had many diaper changes throughout the day but for some reason, his diaper change after his bath mad him very upset and he did not stop crying for an hour! Talk about making me want to cry right with him but I kept it together and did what any mother would do, I did my best at making him feel better. Sometimes just being there, holding your little one close, is all that they need.
I check his temperature after every other diaper change, just to make sure his teething isn't causing a fever. It happened only once so far, thankfully, and anything above 99.1 makes me very nervous. Luckily that was not the issue but I decided to give him some teething tablets just in case. I usually give him just two and dissolve them in a little bit of breast milk. They work wonders.
He felled asleep in his pack and play. I decided to leave him there and wake up his Daddy to come snuggle next to me.
I'm sure there are things I left out but we had a wonderful day today besides the hour of non-stop crying. It's crazy how being a stay at home mother can make me feel like I am Bi-Polar. One minute Kambryn is doing great, happy, and smiling. The next he is crying and nothing makes him cheer up, not even comfort nursing which used to work all the time. So as a result, my moods are up and down constantly. Being a mother is seriously the hardest job I have ever had but it is also the most rewarding. I love everything about motherhood all thanks to my big 4 month old.
That was our day today. I hope that yours was an amazing day as well! Thank you for reading.
xx - India and Kambryn.
