Kambryn and I had a blast with our homemade edible finger paint. Yes, I am that mom that freaked out at just the thought of Kambryn putting his fingers into regular children's paint and then placing them into his mouth. He is at that stage in his life where his hands are constantly in his mouth.
I did some researched and was happy to have found a easy and edible way for him to paint. Here are the ingredients:
2 Table Spoons of Sugar
1/3 Cups of All Purpose Flour
2 Cups of Water
Food Coloring
I mixed everything together (Minus the food coloring) and placed into a sauce pan. I heated the ingredients on the stove for a few minutes until the consistency thickened. Once it cooled, I placed the mixture into four different small cups and added 3 drops of each color of food coloring.
It was very simple to make and allowed me to rest knowing that if any of the paint was to find it's way into my son's mouth, it would be perfectly safe. I wouldn't recommend allowing your child to eat this paint because I have been told that food dye, especially red, is not good for babies but it is still nice to know that it is safer than actual paint.
Kambryn loved having his fingers in the paint. It was like nothing he has felt before and his eye brightened with excitement of something new. I love that about first time motherhood. I love watching my son experience everything for the first time and seeing his expression as he learns something new. It is something I will cherish forever.
I think he started to get the hang of things after a few times because he would slap his hands on the paper and move his fingers around. I just simply patted his fingers in paint and onto the paper. I might have a future Picasso on my hands!

Off topic but has anyone else's little sucked their bottom lip? He does this constantly through out the day and it cracks me up. I always wonder why he does this?
Ta Da! Kambryn's finished project turned out beautiful. What a fun, easy, and inexpensive activity to do with your children. This can be any age appropriate.
Now that it is dry, I plan to find a photo frame that will fit and hang this up on the wall. I love doing arts and crafts activities with Kambryn and hope to find some more fun activities that we can do together. If you know of an activity we should try next, leave a message in the comments or send me an email. Thanks in advance mamas and thanks for reading. ❤️
