Chapter Twenty-One: The Third Trimester

11:17 PM

Since I skipped out on my third trimester posts, I figured I could combine the whole trimester into one post for you and tell you about the last weeks of my pregnancy. I will admit, I already miss being pregnant.

There is something magical about growing a human inside of you. Being able to watch the changes in myself and my unborn fetus was truly a blessing. From the growth of my stomach to the tiny kicks and flutters, I loved everything about being pregnant.

My first trimester was the scariest. I had a scare when I was 12 weeks pregnant and thought I was loosing my baby (I wrote a previous post about it). It's what I call the "Caution" trimester because I wanted to be extra careful with anything and everything. Once I made it through that trimester my nerves finally calmed down, just a little bit at least.

The second trimester was my favorite. I didn't feel uncomfortable. My belly finally started to show. And I actually had energy. It was the best weeks of my pregnancy.

And then came the third trimester, both exciting and miserable. It was exciting because I was getting so close to meeting my baby boy, I planned and had his baby shower, and I finally put his room together. I felt so anxious but I also felt very miserable.

My stomach grew and grew, which was amazing to experience, but I felt like I was running out of room for my lungs and back. Moving to much always hurt and left me out of breath. That just comes with pregnancy and it was all worth it to grow my beautiful baby boy.

I gained exactly 40 pounds during my whole pregnancy. I started to swell after 36 weeks and my wedding rings still don't fit my finger. I started loosing sleep. I wouldn't fall asleep until around 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. It was as if my body was preparing for long nights with my son. I started getting really bad acid reflex, especially at night time.

At 37 weeks I was 70% thinned and dilated to 3 CM. Then at 38 weeks I was still 3 CM but 80% thinned. During that visit I also was told my blood pressure was a little high and they found a low amount of protein in my urine which is not good. I ended up having to go to the hospital 4 days later to be monitored because my blood pressure was 157/99 and stayed high. I took a at home pee test, where I pour my urine into a huge jug all day long and store into the fridge.

The next day I had to take my urine to the hospital and they monitored me some more while we waited for the results. My urine came back positive with protein.

ended up giving birth to my son a week and a day early. I plan to explain everything that had happened when I post about my son's birthing story. I am excited to share that and many beautiful photos with you.

Here are some weekly updates (not all of them unfortunately) during my pregnancy that I wanted to share with you.

(Opps I messed up on the week on my 27 weeks photo. Pregnancy brain was in full effect.)

I'm sorry for the missing photos. Below I will attach some of my professional maternity photos.

These are from 25 weeks and 6 days pregnant.

And to think I thought I was big here. I didn't even know what I had coming to me.
