Chapter One: Before I became "Mommy".
4:45 AMThrough out my life I have been a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, a big sister, a little cousin, a big cousin, a best friend, a step sister, a student, a girl friend, a prom date, a Wendy's worker, a high school graduate, a adventurer, a party girl, a lover, a fiancée, a wife, a daughter-in-law, a sister-in-law, an aunt, a college graduate, a medical information technologist, a student advisor, and a photographer.
That is a lot of titles for 25 years of life but it's all the titles that I have gained. Finally I have reach another goal in my life and the most important title of them all...A Mother!
I am beyond excited to become a mother. I have dreamt of this day over so many years. Even when I was younger, I always knew I would be a mother. I always thought I would have one boy and one girl. (Hopefully it'll work out that way but either way I am happy!)
Ever since I met my Husband, Wes, my baby fever kicked in. The way he was around his nieces melted my heart and I just knew that he would be an amazing father one day. Not to mention I fell in love with him and what girl doesn't think about having children with the person they're in love with?
Of course Wes and I always planned to have kids but the timing never seemed right. We both went to college and were trying to make something of our lives. He wanted to be a mechanic because he loves working on cars and I love anything medical and being able to help others. Life was way too busy to stop and try to have a family, even though I wanted it so bad!
There were times I gave up and thought that we would never get to that point in our lives. There are times I told myself I wanted to wait a little longer. That is the thing with baby fever, you go back and fourth so much that sometimes you're not even sure what you want but for me I have always been sure that I wanted to be a mother. The only question was "When?"
Honestly there is never a perfect time to have a child. Wes and I had a dream and set goals for ourselves. We wanted to graduate college, wanted to get good jobs and build up our status at those jobs, and of course we wanted to build or own a house.
Well we were able to graduate college, so that's a good start. We both got good jobs, even though mine is not in the field of study I worked so hard to get a degree in. But do we own a home, no. Are we close to achieving that goal? No. I say we have a good two years of saving money, planning, and getting our credit up for a home loan. Is it going to be ok reading a child where we live now? Yes! It may be a small home but it's full of love and saves us money as well. We will reach that third goal in life but this time it'll be all three of us instead of just Wes and I.
Life never works out the way we have planned. Just when things seem to go smoothly, there is always some rough patches along the way. One thing is for sure, your going where you need to go and with positive thinking and God on your side, you will get there when you're meant to get there. Everything happens for a reason and I thank God everyday for the blessings he has given to me.
